AI & Design

We prompt the machine

We give the underlying AI model a description of our ideas and try to be just specific enough because what we want is to be surprised. That’s the beauty of the process.

The machine dreams up a design

Most of the time, the effect is jaw-dropping. We get more than we asked for! Our feelings are already prompted.

The artisan turns it into a product

A shortlist of the best AI designs ends up on the artisans’ table. They assess the feasibility and if the design passes the laws of physics or is otherwise technically feasible, they approve them and make them.

No. The reason for that is simple: the draft or the image created by the AI is the starting point, it is the final output and a suggestion as to what the product should look like. To get to the execution of the idea, we must create a proper layout for each piece.

Sometimes, certain aspects have to be changed, but only to the degree that makes the design feasible and functional. Also, in most cases, we use materials that have specific properties, like wood, and one may never replicate the same natural wood properties as shown in the images. However, this does not mean that the final product will differ very much from the picture.

Due to the nature of the materials that we use (most notably, wood), the picture can never look like the final product as each piece of wood is unique and has special properties that enhance the product. Also, in some cases, certain adjustments must be made in order to make the product (e.g., a piece of furniture) usable. That said, the product should vary slightly, but not significantly. If the product varies significantly, please contact us.

In coming up with the design ideas, we use what is called a generative artificial intelligence program, and in this case it is Midjourney. This may change in the future, but one thing is for sure. We do not stop at the AI design - we bring them to life. We have partnered with some of the best furniture designers and artisans to transform that output into a product that can live inside your home.

Shipping

We pride ourselves not only on the uniqueness of our designs, but also on their complexity, which is why every single product must be developed from zero. There are no ready molds, the design process always starts anew, and it is never the same craftsman working on the products. This is why it takes a long time. Another reason is that some products are more complex than others, so making a very intricate design of a wardrobe will last longer than making a garden table. Also, almost all our designs are on-demand and made for you.

We partnered with several different well-established logistics companies and select them based on the region you are in.

Products & Quality

There is not one single manufacturer of the products. We have partnered with many artisans, craftsmen, and small furniture shops to produce the pieces shown on our website.

Based on the layouts prepared by professional designers, the artisans work the pieces. Every single aspect of the product is discussed before proceeding and if anything specific comes up during the implementation, we may even reach out to you to ask you for your preferences.

Quality control lies with the artisans, craftsmen and the manufacturers. Of course, there is an understanding of what quality control should entail and this is agreed on in advance. The entire process is lengthy and it normally happens that we are involved in it and provide our feedback as the production proceeds. However, the final responsibility lies with the manufacturers.

As the name suggests, one-of-a-kind pieces are unique and there is no second product that looks like that. It is like a piece of art that is made only once for the occasion. We do not talk here about differences in the material for the same design. We talk about a completely unique design that is produced only once.

On the other hand, those products that are particular in their design, but still make sense to produce in more than one piece (like coffee cups, small tables, and similar), are produced in small batches. These limited series are also produced only once. For example, we may produce 500 pieces of a specific coffee or tee set and that is it. We will not produce the same series again, no matter how popular it may be. We seek uniqueness even in a small series production.

At the moment, we are not offering this possibility as it would add more complexity to the already complex workflow. However, we are considering introducing this possibility in the future and would like to hear from you if you have any such suggestions. Who knows, maybe we can make an exception?
